A few weeks ago, I received two sets of Carmex Moisture Plus in Sheer Pink and Sheer Peach Tint Lip Balms to review. Living in Alaska, one of my biggest problems is chapped lips due to the winter cold which lasts for over 6 months! So I was super excited to try out this product and test it for the kind of weather that we have :)
I decided to first try out the Sheer Pink Tint Lip Balm because what can I say, I like pink :). First thing I noticed and liked about the product was its packaging. I like its slim sleek look which makes it easier to fit in my pocket without the ugly bulge. I like wearing skinny jeans and having it with me all the time in my pocket did not feel uncomfortable. I also like the tint color - it was just the perfect shade and you could decide to just use it without lipstick or layer it with your regular lipstick. For me, it acted both as a lip balm and as a light lipstick with just the perfect hint of color. Also, because I have asthma, I am sensitive to strong smells and so I was pleasantly surprised that this one had a mild nice fragrance. It also did not have a bad aftertaste - I lick my lips unconsciously from time to time and was glad that it did not taste weird, icky or of chemicals :).
In terms of its effectiveness, it was smooth and easy to apply and it did moisturize my lips. However I noticed that I needed to constantly re-apply it on my lips when I am outdoors (But then again, the weather here is now minus 30F!). Although I am generally satisfied with the product, I hope Carmex can develop a lip balm that is especially suited for Alaskan winter. But if you do not have to be outdoors in extreme weather, I think this lip balm is perfect. It lasts longer if you are wearing it indoors too!
